Description

Turner Milk Paints are non-toxic, water-based, acrylic paints that are extremely popular in Japan. These paints are unique because they use casein, a protein derived from cow’s milk, as a binder, supplied by the Morinaga milk and confectionary company. This results in a beautifully textured, antique, matte finish that comes in 16 colors.

Turner Milk Paints are best used on non-flexible and textured surfaces like wood, plaster, dry wall, stone, bricks, concrete, or rigid primed canvas. If using on paper, it is is best prepped with Turner’s Multi Primer or similar. Several Turner Milk Paint primers are also available in store to achieve a variety of distressed effects.

Use Antique Medium as a top coat over Milk Paint to achieve the aged look of old paint, using a cloth for large areas or a dry brush for smaller areas.

Use Dust Medium as a top coat over Milk Paint to achieve a faded finish, using a cloth for large areas or a dry brush for smaller areas.

Use Cracking Medium to achieve a cracked paint effect. This may be used between two layers of Turner Milk Paint so that the cracks will take the color of the base layer. First paint the base layer and let dry completely, then apply the Cracking Medium. While it’s still slightly sticky, apply the second layer and wait for the cracking to take effect as it dries.

Use Plaster Medium as a base layer for Turner Milk Paint, for impasto style effects.

Use Multi Primer to improve adhesion of of Turner Milk Paint to paint-resistant surfaces like glass, metal, plastic, and other smooth, non-porous surfaces. Stir before use and apply two layers for best results; add a tiny amount of water for smoother application and non-visible brushstrokes. The surfaces will be ready two hours after priming, but glass needs a day before painting.

Use Turner Top Coat Clear UV to protect the longevity of your finished surface and impart a glossy sheen.
